Sarah – 2011

The theme guiding our 2009-2011 design is efficiency, with the goal of winning the fuel economy event. Current events have highlighted the importance of balancing conservation and performance. Fuel economy is not typically a design focus, but beginning this season, the event has doubled in point value, becoming a factor in the competition. A design guided by efficiency is an opportunity to stand out.

Design time will be directed towards this aim. The team is investing in developing engine test facilities to precisely tune the engine controls for the desired output. The motor will be converted to run on E85, to promote renewable fuels development and capitalize an opportunity for increased economy.  Driveline efficiency and overall weight reduction will be in clear focus throughout the process.
